Cecil Rogers is celebrating 50 years of service with Smith T’s Hardware and Building Supplies in Downtown Opelika [812 Railroad Avenue Opelika AL, 36801] this past Friday July 17, 2022.
Cecil Rogers began working for Smith T’s on July 17, 1972.
For over five decades Cecil has been a great asset to local businesses, local contractors and local DIY homeowners when it comes to construction/renovation etc. His patience and understanding help the novice as well as the journeyman or master craftsman. Personal relationships matter.
There are other competitors for Hardware & Building Supplies in the local area, I have yet to find a better choice than Smith T’s however.
Having a first name relationship with a knowledgeable producer/supplier of goods and services makes all the difference in the world. At big box stores the customer is a number, at Smith T’s the customer is a friend. Cecil makes a great point about that recalling when Winston Smith Sr hired him.
Winston Sr wanted his business and employees to treat every customer as though they were putting a roof over their head, lights in their home and food on their table… because they are. Sadly, a simple yet profound understanding that is all but lost on most businesses these days.
Cecil has made many friends working with Smith T’s over the years.
His compassion and support of his community are evident and valuable to say the least. Attached is a video that was captured on the 50-year anniversary [July 17, 2022] of Cecil working with Smith T’s. Many local Lee Countians (including Mayor Gary Fuller) came to congratulate and support Cecil on his awesome accomplishment.
